Copies after the painted portraits in Sarasota [3] and Amsterdam [4]. The family coats-of-arms that are visible in the paintings, have not been included in these drawn copies. This proves that the coats-of-arms have been added at a later date, just like in the 1625 Portrait of Jacob Pietersz. Olycan (A1.17), in which the coat-of-arms proved to contain Prussian Blue pigments.5 Also in the painted bust-length versions of the portraits (A3.25, A3.33a), a coat-of-arms had been added at a later date, and was again removed during more recent restoration.6

D29 Wybrand Hendriks, Identification sheet of Officers and sergeants of the St. George civic guard
Pencil, pen and brush in grey on paper, 209 x 539 mm
Amsterdam, Amsterdam Museum, inv.no. TA 15725
This drawing identifies the portrayed men in the 1639 group portrait of the officers and sergeants of the St. George civic guard [5]. Wybrand Hendriks (1744-1831) would have created this with help of a nameplate that originally was attached to the frame of the painting.7

D32 Wybrand Hendriks, Regents of the Old Men’s Almshouse, c. 1780-18208
Pencil and watercolor on paper, 385 x 568 mm
Haarlem, Teylers Museum, inv.no. W 045
This is a copy after the painted group portrait of the regents of the Oudemannenhuis of 1663-1664 [7]. On this sheet, the curtain hanging from the upper left is visible, whereas the narrow landscape view in the right-hand side background of the painting is not. The three-dimensional modelling of the bodies in the black silk fabrics, which seems almost flat today in the painting, is conceivable. There is also the compositional element of the large black hats, which in the painting have sunk into the background.
